FDH Bank Nchalo Branch Donates 500 Tree Seedlings to FACE for Disaster Risk Management in Nsanje District

In recognition of the significant impact that the Foundation for Active Civic Education (FACE) is making in Disaster Risk Management in Nsanje District, FDH Bank Nchalo Branch donated 500 tree seedlings to the organization on June 10, 2024. The donation is aimed at supporting the community in reducing the risks associated with floods.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the FDH Bank Nchalo Branch Manager highlighted the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community. The manager emphasized that FACE is a remarkable organization that works directly with the people, making it an ideal partner for community support initiatives.

The manager further stressed the importance of implementing flood prevention measures in disaster-prone areas like Nsanje.

Seedlings being delivered to Nyanjidu Community

On behalf of FACE, Programs Manager Paul Jere expressed gratitude for the timely support, noting that the tree seedlings would be directly distributed to the communities of Nyanjidu and Anne Petro, areas frequently affected by persistent flooding.

“These trees will be planted in strategic locations to mitigate the impact of floods. We have identified several areas that urgently need more trees, and we encourage other well-wishers to follow FDH’s example,” Jere said.

Immediately after receiving the tree seedlings, FACE’s Project Officer, Costa Nkhani, led a team to deliver half of the seedlings to the community of Nyanjidu, with the remaining half being delivered to Anne Petro.

The seedlings were planted around the Nyanfisi irrigation scheme, which FACE constructed with funding from All We Can and YCare International.
