With financial support from Irish Aid through Goal Malawi, FACE (Foundation for Active Civic Education) organized health talks on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices for pregnant and lactating mothers in Bangula, Osiyana, and Fatima (Chapinga) flood survivors’ evacuation camps from 3rd to 6th March 2015.
The aim was to promote exclusive breastfeeding for children under six months, educate on best practices in complementary feeding for children over six months, provide food hygiene practices, and educate on the importance of hand washing. These talks were aimed at preventing malnutrition among children under five and preventing illnesses caused by poor hygiene.
A total of 455 individuals attended, including 390 women and 65 men, with the highest attendance at Bangula camp. The health talks provided vital information to mothers and families to promote healthy practices and improve the health outcomes of children in the community.
