Between 3-6 February 2013, the FACE conducted follow-up visits to all 18 villages to assess the sanitary conditions. With funding from Goal Malawi, the initiative aimed to reduce the prevalence of preventable illnesses that could hinder the national development agenda.
The results of the follow-up were highly encouraging, with Alufazema in T/A Mlolo and Chisamba 2 in T/A Mbenje scoring 100% on the assessment. Other villages were also making commendable efforts to reach their 100% target.
Both men and women played active roles in ensuring that the desired goals were achieved. This success is a testament to the community's dedication to improving the sanitation conditions and ultimately contributing to the country's development.
Improved sanitation can have a significant impact on public health and the economy. With reduced cases of preventable illnesses, resources that would have been used for medical care can be redirected to other development projects. This achievement sets a positive example for other communities to follow suit and prioritize sanitation to achieve national development goals.
